Keeping Balance without losing progress We are often tired and imbalanced not because we are doing to much, but because we are doing to little of what is most real and meaningful. Today I ran up against something common for me. I kind of hit a wall. I tend to have bursts of creative energy or wanting to get somewhere so I take on some large task and really go for it only to get disappointed when I find that the effort I'm putting out just isn't sustainable. Life isn't built to be constant output. It's no fun that way either. Everything starts to wear thin and wear out. I keep struggling to keep up the same intensity but the joy drains out of it because I'm not giving myself what I really need which is time to renew. Some Wholehearted loafing! I'm learning to ride the feelings of what I need while keeping the intention on consistency and moving forward. Tiny nods to what's important. By that, I mean every day I do something toward my most important goals. It may be the very tiniest of things (like feeling one thing I'm grateful for). Just to keep my subconscious working on it in the background. Also it's not what you do, it's the spirit you do it in. If you're coming from a centered place. You're good. Staying centered isn't about staying in the lotus position and above everything. It's flowing with what is. It's the dance. Sometimes it's slow and relaxed, sometimes it's passionate or forceful or angry. Sometimes it's sad and longing. Sometimes it's upbeat or goofy. It's give and take. It's knowing where you are in the world in that moment and giving yourself what you need. So I'm choosing to let the lulls come. Things ebb and flow. But everything has its time and purpose. Everything that comes is worthwhile and useful. These are what I'm working with now. Feel free to share any comments on things that have worked for you.
